The institute's campus, with all modern facilities will be located
12 Kms. from Indore, on 150 acres of land at Rau, atop a hill
and amidst the scenic beauty of the grassy plains. Currently,
IIMI has about 25,000 sq. feet area for its exclusive use at
its temporary premises at Rajendra Nagar.
The classrooms are air-conditioned with all the modern teaching
aids including multimedia notebooks, LCD & O/H projectors,
motorized screen, infra-red pointers, cordless microphones and
speakers, etc. The hydraulic chairs for participants are an
innovative solution to the constraint of the existing building.
There are separate Seminar rooms and an Audio-Visual room.
The institute has 3 hostels - a separate women's hostel, the
Boy's Hostel [PGP Ist Year] and a hostel [PGP IInd Year] that
comprises a series of independent 3-bedroom bungalows in the
adjacent Takshila Housing Colony. All participants are furnished
with single room accommodation. All three hostels have a separate
TV/ recreation room.
The common room at the Boy's Hostel provides the scene of action
for get-togethers, parties and informal discussions with guest
speakers. Recreation facilities are available to play carrom
and TT as well as badminton and volleyball. Washing machines,
ironing and cleaning services, a gym, etc. do help to make life
a lot easier.
Participants are also provided with individual PC's in their
rooms, complete with a 24-hour LAN connection and Internet connectivity
IIMI has set up a campus-wide LAN which connects individual
rooms in the Hostels to the Internet and the Library. This enables
the participants to have 7 days/24 hours access to the Internet
and Library right from their rooms making it easier to access
such vital resources. IIMI is the only IIM which is currently
able to provide such facility. Classrooms, Faculty Offices,
Research Associates, Administration also are connected via the
Straddling this hardware network is a wide range of the latest
software applications. The greatest advantage that IIMI has
in this regard is that there are no 'legacy' or obsolete systems.
A predominantly electronic library is continuously being set
up. Databases like CMIE Prowess, Econlit, Vanscom, World Development
Reports, etc, are already available on line. The library also
subscribes to ABI-Inform database, which provides full text
information on about 600 international journals and abstracts
of another about 400 journals for the past several years. Besides,
the library also subscribes to more than 100 additional journals
in print versions. The library also has a wide collection of
Videos and CDs on most academic areas.
